This weekend was amazing. It was the first time I felt like I had enough energy after that crazy flu bug came through our home. I'm still coughing like crazy, but I think that's illness induced asthma...mean and nasty stuff.
Saturday we went to Home Depot and used our gift cards we got recently to buy some paint (for bookshelves and other future projects), weather stripping, a snow shovel (or, a yard scoop...same?), and some other things that were more Alex projects, less me-projects so I didn't pay that much attention. :/ selfish!
Then we went down the road to Apple Hill (actually, we just wanted some cider and a bushel of apples so we went to Boa Vista..it's not like we toured aaaaallllllll of Apple Hill! Come on! I'm not a tourist!!! ...I so am still a tourist....).
That night there was an AWESOME storm!!!! We heard this rat-a-tat-tat on our stove pipe and Alex ran out into the hail to get the last of the boxes out of the back of his truck while thunder and lightening performed for us. It was gorgeous! We turned out our lights and opened the front window blinds all the way and watched the tall trees silhouetted against the bright purple sky whenever lightening lit it up. The closest it got was 2 seconds away...so, 2 miles away? And it lasted at least 30 minutes. It was so much fun! I LOVE lightening storms!
Then Sunday we went on a loooooong walk!...
Starting our walk. This is on the street behind our house. That's the back of our house.
This is where I missed a really great picture- Alex was making Sunshine Boy hop...he was grinning and laughing...and I was too slow.
Oh my god, they are so beautiful- it kills me!
Ohhhh the views we get to enjoy.
Our boy was SO excited! He kept running from pine cone to stone to ...tree...debree...
It was a beautiful day. Chilly, really really chilly and crisp, but beautiful!
I love Manzanita when it gets that twisted look- it gets smooth and white, like bone. Also, manzanita berries are supposed to prevent you from reacting to poison oak! Eat 30 or 40 berries a year, or something like that. But watch out for the seeds! They're very seedy. I don't have to worry about it though- I'm not allergic to poison oak.
When we got home, our sweet boy fell fast asleep, I got to work sanding some bookcases for painting, Alex started making some chicken soup and then got up on the roof and cleaned out the gutters and swept off the roof. When our boy woke up we had a nice, cozy evening together. I love Autumn!
